Co-Creating My Dream Office with God

You are here:

At the beginning of the year I set out to dig deep inside myself and learn how to dream.

Setting Intentions: Co-Creating with God

In fact, my Facebook status read this:

Spent most of my afternoon breaking down my goals into monthly, weekly, and daily tasks. It was like lighting when it hit me that I was co-creating my year with God. I have goals I have written down on my paper, but it’s up to me to go after them. He whispered them in my ear and planted them in my heart. But it’s up to me to not waste time. It’s up to me to move and take action. In my childhood I heard people say: “Si Dios quiere”, it means “If God wants” and it was just left at that. I wasn’t taught to plan, in fact it was hard for me to dream. I always thought I need to just be grateful. But God wants more for us than to just be grateful. He invites us to dream and co-create.

So, one of the goals I wrote out was to transform and organize my own office.  It functioned OK for the most part.

Office Transformation: My Wishlist

Here’s what I wanted to improve:

  • Better desk placement – No matter where I put it, it never felt quite right.

  • Improved lighting – A brighter workspace to enhance productivity.

  • Aesthetic inbox – Like a bouquet of flowers for my desk, an inbox should bring joy while serving a purpose.

  • Fresh paint – A new color to brighten the space.

  • Possibly a new desk – Something more functional and stylish.

  • A bright and airy feel – A space that inspires creativity.

  • New curtains – To complete the light and fresh ambiance.

  • Concealed storage for receipts – A practical but hidden solution.

  • A cozy seating area – A comfortable place to plan, write, and take breaks

Finding Inspiration for My Dream Office

I enjoyed Co-creating my office with God.

It is hard to explain on paper the magic that happened as everything come to fruition.

I started by looking on Pinterest for inspiration. I kept being drawn to angel wings. Feel Free to follow me for inspiration: My Pinterest Boards

But the real starting point came from a photo shoot with my photographer, Oksana. I found a board at HomeGoods in preparation for the shoot, and the soft pink hues truly captured my essence. That color palette became the foundation of my office design.

I wanted to transfer that soft, sweet feel into my office.

Step-by-Step Office Makeover

1. Choosing the Perfect Paint Color

Selecting the right paint was one of the toughest parts! After testing swatches, I had an epiphany while sorting through my hazardous waste drop-off cans. I found a soft gray shade called Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore, and it was perfect.

I decided against an accent wall and had my entire office painted in this color. My handyman handled the painting, and since my desk was functional but not the right color, I had it painted as well with a varnish finish for durability.

2. Upcycling Furniture for Functionality

While purging, I had a lightbulb moment with an old dresser.

It had broken doors from my daughter climbing on it years ago (#life), but instead of tossing it, I repurposed it.

I had my carpenter remove the damaged drawers, cut out the shelf, and add a slide-out feature to store my printer.

Genius!

God sure knows how to make me smile.

I had the dresser painted as well.

It was perfect for keeping my supplies organized.

It was all coming together so beautifully! I was so excited!

3. Creating a Cozy Blogging Nook

I scoured OfferUp, Facebook Marketplace, and Craigslist for a small settee. Just when I was about to settle for something else, I found the perfect one within my budget! I defined this nook with:

  • A rose-colored area rug

  • A small side table

  • A cozy pouf

  • A gray abstract art piece (another Facebook Marketplace find!)

4. Adding the Final Touches

To complete the space, I created a gallery wall, organized my receipts and notes in IKEA boxes, and found a stylish inbox to keep my desk clutter-free. Every piece had a home, making my office both functional and inspiring.

I accomplished everything on my wishlist—and more! My new office is a space where I feel productive, inspired, and ready to take on my goals.

I hope you’ve enjoyed watching my dream office transform into reality.

  3. I love your office! I loved how it all came together-I think God was helping! Your little sofa is too cute and I love that part of the room. I saw that you mentioned that you weren’t an interior designer, but it looks like a professional decorator did your office. I hope to have an office like yours one day soon!
